Explore future network connections
Project Stage
About the Project
During the development of the Regional Transportation Plan, some large-scale conceptual projects were identified as having potential to benefit the network. However, these projects would be large-scale, long term endeavours that would likely require major investment. More work is needed to fully understand if these projects are worth pursuing.
Benefits
- Improves connectivity
- Increases system efficiency and reliability
- Introduces redundancy
FROM THE REGIONAL TRANSPORTATION PLAN
Action 3.1.2: Complete feasibility studies for additional large-scale network connections and active transportation (AT) links.
Several new road connections have the potential to improve the transportation system at a high-level, either by improving connectivity, introducing redundancy, or increasing system efficiency and reliability. Additional AT links can help fill gaps and augment existing municipal and provincial AT networks. However, more detail is required to analyze the cost-benefit of these conceptual connections. Examples of these conceptual connections include:
- Improved connection between Highway 102 and the A. Murray Mackay Bridge
- Additional access points to the Halifax peninsula
- Cross-Dartmouth connection
